UPCD ALUMNI VISIT UPCD
We always love it when our alumni and friends come back to the campus for a visit! Two UPCD alumni visited the college last March 21 – 22, 2024.
Dr. Kam Fan Liu, UPCD Class of 1971 and his family were welcomed by College Secretary Dr. Jessica Rebueno Santos, Assistant to the Dean Dr. Josievitz Tan-Zafra and UPCD faculty Dr. Ceasar Bautista.
It has been 50 years since he last visited Manila. His wife Vivian, and daughter Ellen decided to surprise him with a trip to Manila for his retirement gift. Dr. Liu has fond recollections of his college days in the Old UPCD building. Seeing the photo memorabilia of former deans (Dean Celso Bunag was the UPCD dean when he graduated!), the pockets museums showcasing the Timeline History of UPCD and Dr. Luz C. Macapanpan exhibit wall brought back good memories. Despite being 81 yrs old, he has a very sharp mind and was very energetic getting a tour of the new building.
After his visit, Dr. Kam Fan Liu only had kind words for the College:
Thank you very much for your honourable reception. This is the most memorable trip I ever had. As I stepped into the Dentistry Faculty, I felt myself a young Lad in the white outfit going on the lectures or lab work. It's been 53 years since I left UP and I am grateful for all the training I've had here.
After the day visit, I took my family to Quezon City, pre-den school where I had my first year studies. The school is entirely changed, but I had a chance of sitting on the dorm bed and remember the days I had with 3 other roommates. The whole day was very touching for me. And of course the lunch is very hearty! May God bless UP all staff , students, volunteers and special thanks to Dr. Ceaser Bautista, Dr. Jessica Rebueno Santos and Dr. Josievitz Tan-Zafra.
Dr. Faye Uy, UPCD Class of 1996 is notably one of our most generous alumni who never forgets to visit the college whenever she is in town.
The faculty of the Operative Dentistry Section led by Dr. Teresita Lara and Dr. Angie Atienza graciously received her during her visit. She was also greeted by her batchmate, Assistant to the Dean Dr. Josievitz Tan-Zafra. Dr. Faye Uy has a very successful private practice in Cypress and Lakewood, California. This time, she donated several composite fillings and resin cement to be used by the clinicians in the OP Clinics. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, Dr. Faye!
