The University of the Philippines Manila was the first university in the Philippines to offer a Graduate Program in Orthodontics. The program started in 1989 and since then has produced a number of orthodontists who are now teaching in other schools locally and abroad. Several alumni are distinguished local and international speakers in dental congresses. While many of our graduates have successful practices in the country, some of our alumni may also be found in Iran, Nepal, Canada, Hong Kong and China.

Program Objectives
The Master of Science in Dentistry (Orthodontics) program aims to:
(1) graduate dentists with sufficient knowledge in the art and science of orthodontics, with proficiency in the clinical and technical skills necessary to render professional and ethical orthodontic service;
(2) graduate dentists armed with the algorithm of orthodontic concepts and delivery of care, applying innovative techniques, methodologies and instrumentations for the benefit of the constantly changing oral needs of patients and;
(3) produce dentists who are motivated to do research and teach Orthodontics.
Degrees
The Master of Science degree in Dentistry – Orthodontics (MSD Orthodontics) and the Certificate of Proficiency in Orthodontics (Cert. Prof. Orthodontics) are the ONLY degrees issued by the university to those who have successfully finished the graduate program.
