UPCD MOU SIGNING WITH FACULTY OF DENTISTRY UNIVERSITAS INDONESIA (FKG UI)

UPCD wins 2ND PRIZE IN THE LITERATURE REVIEW COMPETITION
KKPIKG 2026 20th Scientific Meeting and Refresher Course in Dentistry "Shaping the Future of Global Oral Health: Translating Science, Technology and Humanity" Universitas Indonesia
In conjunction with the Asian Conference on Geriatric Dentistry
August 13-15, 2026


The UP College of Dentistry inks another international MOU, this time with Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia (FKG UI) during the 20th KPPIKG 20th Scientific Meeting and Refresher Course in Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia on August 14, 2026. In attendance from FKG UI were Dean Prof. Dr. Lisa Rinanda Amir, and Prof. Dr. Citra Kusumasari, Associate Dean for Partnership and International Affairs. UP College of Dentistry was represented by Dean Michelle S. Segarra, interim College Officer for Linkages Dr. Armin Segarra and Dr. Sharmaine Sigua. 

FKG UI places 51-150 among the top ranking dental universities globally (Times Higher Education Impact Rankings). 

The Memorandum of Understanding's Scope of Cooperation includes education and teaching, development of human resources, collaborative research projects, joint publications, and academic journal management, joint community development and public health outreach programs, improvement of teaching staff and student capabilities, and enhanced copperation in joint scientific activities. 

Coinciding with the MOU Signing is the 20th KKPIKG 20th Scientific Meeting and Refresher Course and the Asian Geriatric Dentistry Conference (AGDC) which was from August 13-15, 2026. The joint conference featured many world renowned speakers including Professor Junji Tagami (Cariology and Operative Dentistry), Prof. Guang Hong (Dental Materials), Prof. Anand Marya (Orthodontics), Prof. Jie Yang (AI and Imaging) and Prof. Atiphan Pimkaokhang (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) among others.


Dean Michelle Segarra won 2nd Prize in the Literature Review Competition which was part of the Asian Geriatric Dentistry Conference. Her narrative literature review on Caries Prevention and Treatment for Root Caries Among Elderly Patients bested competing entries which were scoping reviews and systematic reviews on link between periodontal disease and dementia, link between oral frailty and physical frailty, among others. Another honor gained for UPCD.
