MASTERS AND PHD PROGRAMS WITH SISTER UNIVERSITIES

The UP College of Dentistry congratulates three of our faculty members who qualified for PhD Programs in our sister universities:

1. Dr. Florentino Kurt P. Lozano - Dept. of Molecular Craniofacial Embryology and Oral Histology, Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Medical and Dental University)

2. Dr. Regina Carmela Pengson - Division of Preventive Dentistry, Niigata University Faculty of Dentistry

3. Dr. Celine Marie delos Reyes - Division of Preventive Dentistry, Niigata University Faculty of Dentistry 

UPCD also congratulates Dr. Christian Noel E. Paghubasan for being accepted to the Clinical and Public Oral Health Research Training Program for Southeast Asia (Medium-term Training) hosted by NIH-USA and Khon Kaen University from August to December 2026.      

This is part of the long-term faculty development program (since 2023) of the UP College of Dentistry which aims to send young faculty members to our parter universities for their graduate studies. UPCD maintains a very active partnership with the Institute of Science Tokyo and Niigata University. Drs. Lozano, Pengson and delos Reyes will start their program in October 2026 in their respective departments and universities. 

At present, UPCD, thru its active MOU's has already sent several faculty members for graduate studies in top-ranking partner universities abroad. 

Chulalongkorn University:

Dr. Nica Georgia Salazar - Master of Science in Oral Biology, 2023-2025, currently Assistant Professor (Endodontics)

Dr. Ezekiel O. Majan - Master of Science (M.Sc.) Implant and Esthetic Dentistry, 2025 - ongoing

Dr. Jannyl Alyanna Gonzales - Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geriatric Dentistry and Special Patients Care, 2025 - ongoing

Institute Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Medical and Dental University)      

Dr. John Erick P. Quiniquini - PhD in Dental Sciences (Cariology and Operative Dentistry) 2025-ongoing

This is part of the long-term plan of the College to develop its faculty and eventually being able to offer bonafide university-based Masters and PhD programs to Filipino dentists and raise the level of dental education and life-long learning in the country. 

With almost 20 active MOU's with top-ranking universities in the world, UPCD will be sending more of our young faculty members to graduate studies abroad. 

We are also awaiting for the completion of the MSc degrees of Dr. Meg de Jesus (MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chulalongkorn Univ) and Dr. Priscilla Dimacali (MSc in Dental Public Health, Australia).
