Webinar #109

July 22, 2022

“Ang Pagtuturo ng Medisina, Nursing, at Dentistry sa New Normal”

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a disruption in the training of doctors, nurses, dentists, and other health professionals. While it is necessary to address the pandemic, it is also equally important to continue to produce healthcare professionals who are skilled and equipped to do more beyond our COVID-19 response.

More than 2 years into the pandemic, the UP College of Medicine, UP College of Nursing, and UP College of Dentistry have implemented ways on how to train our budding clinical professionals without compromising knowledge and skills, based on a collaborative roadmap for medical/nursing/dental education, internship, and even residency. All of these are in line with the guidelines set in the CHED-DOH joint memorandum circular.

As part of continuing efforts to protect the frontline healthcare workers against the backdrop of a return to high incidence of COVID-19 infections in the country, we will take a closer look at how education remains to be of primary importance to the health sciences center of the Philippines. The Deans of these three colleges: Dean Charlotte M. Chiong (UP College of Medicine);  Dean Shiela R. Bonito (UP College of Nursing); and Dean Danilo L. Magtanong (UP College of Dentistry) will share their experiences as well as best practices and lessons learned on how to train healthcare professionals-in-training using the most innovative teaching strategies. Synthesis and Closing Remarks will be delivered by Dr. Carmencita D. Padilla, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Manila.
