Endorsement Reports of Dent166 Dental Interns Delivered

The Dentistry 166–Community Dental Practice |l class of AY 2022-2023, under the Department of Community Dentistry, delivered their endorsement reports to the incoming senior dental interns
last 18 May 2023 at the UPCD Auditorium. This was their opportunity to present completed activities during the field rotations in the municipalities of Magallanes, Naic, Maragondon and
Ternate (MagNaMarTe) in Cavite the past year. The endorsements will help prepare the incoming
senior dental interns to work with the community stakeholders in continuing the health programs under the UP Community Health and Development Program (UP CHDP). Key points of the municipal situational analyses, challenges encountered and how they were addressed, and their learnings were likewise shared.

Improving oral health education among the constituents and capacitating potential oral health workers through trainings were emphasized by all groups. These were identified as sustainable steps in improving oral health awareness to improve the very high prevalence of caries among day
care students in MagNaMarTe. Open communication with the community stakeholders was
stressed to plan various oral health programs together while being adaptable to changes givern the community setting. The junior dental interns were also advised to be ready physically, emotionally and psychologically - tips that are relevant as well when they work in the UPCD Clinics.

The MagNaMarTe rotations in AY 2022-2023 are the first face-to-face field rotations by dental
interns since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the first rotation by dental interns in the new partnership of the Province of Cavite and the University of the Philippines Manila through the UP CHDP.
