Once again, we are champions! Congratulations to the College of Dentistry led by the Class of 2027 for winning 1st Place in this year's Lantern Parade!
About the UPCD Lantern:
"The UP College of Dentistry's lantern, inspired by the Colossal Titan, is a powerful tribute to the resilience and unwavering spirit of the Filipino people. It represents the strength and dedication of UP Manila as the Health Sciences Center, with its form and intricate details, illustrating the deep, interconnected relationship between healthcare providers and the people they serve.
Intricate dioramas within its muscle striations depict underrepresented groups - jeepney drivers, indigenous people, fisherfolk, farmers, and the LGBT community-showcasing their strength and perseverance to dismantle societal walls that divide and hinder progress.
Through its striking design, the lantern conveys a profound message: healthcare professionals not only shoulder the weight of society but also pave the way for a healthier, more equitable future. It stands as a beacon of hope and unity, illustrating the transformative impact of care and compassion in breaking through societal challenges."
