Dental sleep medicine is an emerging field that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea, through dental interventions. This program will provide knowledge and skills required to effectively identify, manage, and collaborate in the treatment of patients with sleep-related disorders.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
MARIA THERESE GALANG-BOOUIREN, DMD, MS
Professor, University of Illinois Chicago
Dr. Maria Therese Galang-Boquiren is an internationally recognized expert in orthodontics and dental sleep medicine with more than 20 years of experience training the next generation of dentists and orthodontists in cutting-edge treatment techniques. Throughout her distinguished career, Therese has published 45 peer-reviewed scientific papers on topics including orthodontic education, orthodontic treatment outcomes and dental sleep medicine for obstructive sleep apnea. Currently, she is a Professor of Orthodontics and the Director of Predoctoral Orthodontics at the University of Ilinois Chicago college of Dentistry. She oversees orthodontics residents in the oral surgery clinic at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, which immerses students in service learning as part of their curriculum. She is
an also an alumna and Visiting Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry.

Director, Philippine Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (PBO-HNS)
Dr. Agnes T. Remulla specializes in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine and Surgery. She is a diplomate of Philippine Board of Otolaryntology - Head and Neck Surgery and a fellow of Philippine Society of Otolaryntology - Head and Neck Surgery and Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine. Currently, she is the Director of the Philippine Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (PBO-HNS), Chief of Section of Oropharyngology, Salivary Glands and Sleep Surgery, Department of Otolaryntology-Head and Neck Surgery (ORLHNS), UP-PGH, and an Assistant Chair for Teaching at the Department of ORLHNS, UP-PGH. Aside from clinical work, she is also the Assistant of the Dean for Alumni Affairs and Associate Professor at the Department of Otolaryntology-Head and Neck Surgery at the UP College of Medicine.
