The Refresher Course in Pediatric Dentistry, Infection Control and Oral Cancer Screening is a 3-day course which was first offered in July 2017 with public health dentists from the Department of Health as its main target.
The Pediatric Dentistry module aimed to update public health dentists with concepts of dental care in preventive and restorative dentistry as well as to guide the general practitioner in developing a treatment plan based on sound clinical judgement.
The Infection Control module aimed to provide education and training in infection control and prevention as understanding and practicing infection control policies promote patient safety especially in dental public health setting.
The Oral Cancer Screening module aimed to arm the public health dentists with the basic knowledge in the diagnosis of oral cancers. There were about 130 public health dentists from Regions IV, VII and VIII who participated in the said course. It was last offered in July 26,2018.
